Permissions for strategic surveys

You decide who can manage a strategic survey and who can view its results.

Every strategic survey is private by default. Only the person who launched the survey can manage it, and nobody can view the results until permissions have been granted.

The two permissions

The Permissions tab offers two independent permissions:

  • Manage: defines who can administer the survey.
  • View results: defines who can see the survey results.

The two permissions are independent of each other. Granting one does not automatically grant the other.

What applies by default

  • Only the person who created the survey holds the Manage permission.
  • Nobody can access the results until access is explicitly granted.

What users with the Manage permission can do

While a survey is scheduled or running, they can:

  • add or remove other responsible users
  • adjust the survey end date
  • send reminders
  • add participants

Deleting a survey continues to depend on the user role.

Access to results

There are two options for result access:

  • All results: access to every response across the entire circle hierarchy.
  • Circles only: access limited to the circles for which dashboard permissions already exist.

The same permissions also apply to action plans and business KPIs.

Which surveys this covers

The permissions are currently available for strategic surveys. Extended management options for performance surveys are planned. Ad hoc surveys keep their existing permission model for now.

FAQ

Why can I no longer see the results of a survey I used to have access to?

Since this update, strategic surveys are private by default. Ask the person who launched the survey, or anyone with the Manage permission, to grant you the View results permission.

Can I manage a survey without seeing the results?

Yes. Manage and View results are independent permissions and are granted separately.
